Dani's B3 Encounter

So I got to the hotel on Thursday and we're waiting for the BE folks to show up for the staff meeting. Alas, no one shows. Its over an hour before someone hears from Dave (Denise, the co-ordinator of BE's, husband) The night before it had been iffy if Flan was a go or not. Dave reassured us it was a go and that we would be there sometime the next day.

A few hours later the Booster Events website went down with only a single message declare Flanvention II cancelled. Fuck me sideways, Batman, you have got to be shitting me. First I went through denile, then shock, then I just broke down and started crying when they said they may not be able to give refunds. After being consoled by one of the California Browncoats (thanks Arielle!), we went to go inside and who was standing not but 10 feet away from me? Adam fucking Baldwin. That's right ladies and gentlemen. The man, the myth the legend was right there. Maria introduced me and I was like a mine and stuck my hand out for him to shake without saying much. He shook my hand, but I was still crying and didn't want to crowd him so I moved to go inside the hotel and let a few people know he had arrived. He entered the hotel to which the entire place starting singing "the hero of canton" with the help of the Bedlam Bards. He did a little strut and then made an annoucement that he heard our convention had been cancelled and invited us all to the bar with him to have a drink. So with a wave of his hand about 200 or so Browncoats headed for the Hilton Bar.

People were talking to him and thanking him for coming. I said a couple things to him, gave him a button. I had a shot glass made with him and it and he freaking stole it *shakes fist in air* LOL. He was there for awhile so we hung around he as he talked about Day Break and how it was cancelled but would be going to DVD he though. I left for awhile to give other people a chance to talk to him and came back a little while later and he was still chatting with everyone. At one point he left to pee and everyone clapped. (A bunch of folks thought he was leaving I think) When he retruned a lot of people had left the bar so I was able to say hi to him and get a proper hug. I snapped afew pictures, but they really didn't want people taking pictures with him. There were a few who he said yes to, but mostly he was just there to hang out.

Adam hung out in that bar for hours. I'm not even sure when he went home, but he was a total sweetheart and I was so glad he came.

Friday was an interesting day. I went downstairs to the lobby early. The California Browncoats were to make an announcement as to what was happening with Browncoat Backup Bash. Around 9 am, guess show shows up? Badger. Thats right, Mark Sheppard arrived and surprises us all. He was there ALLLLL day, taking pictures with everyone who asked. He was there from about 9 in the morning until almost 3 in the afternoon. He went home for a few hours before returning at 6:30 to sign autographs. Mark is the sweetest man ever. He never denyed anyone for a request for a picture, he was kind and he talked to me a little bit to cheer me up when I had a stomache ache. He is really a classy guy. Also, he doesn't put out, I tried. LOL

Here are some pictures of some of my flist (and me) with Mark that morning:

Sarah and I caught him before the crowd mobbed him

So that night (Friday night) was supposed to be the Browncoat Shindig in the bar. We could dress nice or whatever. I had my black dress I bought for the cocktail party so I wore that.

Now my friend Sarah has a major crush on Jonathan Woodward. She has this whole thing with pudding that we're not going to get into, but lets just say its a big thing. I went to the store with Squish and Siarh to pick up provisions for the weekend and I ended up getting some pudding cups. After I met Jonathan and took a couple of pictures with him I gave him the pudding cups to give to her. He looked at me funny but stashed them in his pocket anyway

Okay so while I am running around trying to give Jonathan my pudding, guess who shows up? That's right, Nathan Fillion. Now I will just say real quick, I didn't get to meet Nathan once. I heard him talking and he walked by another time when I was wicked drunk, but that is about it. Still, he was a standup guy. He brought a box of crap from his closet and just started giving stuff away. Books, video tapes, weird crazy shit. The bar was jam packed full of people and I left to go try and find Sarah and when I came around the corner she's there and she grabs me. Sarah starts hauling me off towards the lobby and in a soft voice tells me Alan Tudky was there. I come around the corner and sure enough he is standing there with maybe ten people around him. Everyone had made such a fuss about Nathan being there, Alan had slipped into the lobby pretty quietly.

I spotted Mark Sheppard in the lobby again. Everyone was pretty much finished mobbing him (they had Jonathan, Christina Hendrix, Nathan and Alan to keep them busy) so I grabbed a picture with Mark real quick in my dress.

I saw Christina pretty close up, but I didn't get a picture with her because the unofficial line was pretty long. I didn't get anywhere near Nathan but I wasn't trying to hard. I don't like mob scenes, I'd rather just sit back and watch them happen. All in all Friday was a pretty good night.

Saturday started out okay. The California Browncoats (with the help of donations from people not even at the convention) rented us a room at this bowling alley. Sounds cheesy, but it was a nice room. Greg Edmundson (the composer) stopped by and did a short Q&A. We watched Done the Impossibe, the guy from the Fruity Oaty Bars commerial dropped in and there was some fan run stuff. We went home and were told to dress for dinner at that we were going to a resturant.

This was more like a club then a resturant. It was owned by Clare Kramer (Glory from BTVS) and she opened it two weeks early just for us. Jonathan Woodward and her worked out all the details and paid for everything but the bar. We were told we were not allowed to bring out cameras or anything to get autographed. Jonathan and Mark were there when we arrived. Shortly after Michael Fairmen (Niska), James Leary (Klem from BTVS), Camden Toy (BTVS), Christina Hendrix (YoSaffBridge), Nathan Fillion, Morena Baccard, Ron Glass, & Michael Muhney showed up.

Now here is where we tie in to the beginning of my last post. I had vodka. I had a lot of vodka. So much that I didn't even seen Morena, Ron, or Christina at all that night. I chatted a bit with Mark and James and Camden on outside. I got a quick hug from Clare because we had met before at a previous convention. A fellow Adam Lover started talking to me and offered to buy me a drink which ended up just being a really big glass of vodka with a squirt of cranberry juice. I slammed the thing down. It started raining and we were on the patio and me and rinalin were smashed and decided stayed out on the patio. It wasn't long before we were completely soaked and waaaay drunk. Me and her both fell down on the slippery ground much to the amusement and appluase of our fellow Browncoats LOL. They tried to bring us out of the rain but I was convinced we shouldn't go into a crowded bar because we were so wet. Rinny even asked me if that was a real rule that we weren't allowed in lol. At one point I did make my way inside. I said hello to Michael Fairmen who gave me a hug even though I was very wet. I had a conversation with Jonathan Woodward at the bar. What we talked about is a little fuzzy, something to do with ties? All I remember was I asked he was he was doing (like work wise, acting or what...my best guess is he's making ties...or maybe he was just playing with his tie. I don't know LOL) So we were wicked drunk, I fell again and my friend helped me sit down on the patio and got me so water. I ended up throwing up on her shoes (sorry hon!) and that was when then the coordinators called us a cab (they didn't even want to wait for the bus to pick us up). I kept telling them Michael Muhney was coming and they didn't believe me and made me go in the cab. About five minutes after I left Michael arrived. Ah...such is life. I saw Nathan once, my glasses were wet from the rain and my vision was a little fuzzy, but he walked by us and we called out to him. He waved but kept going (I think it was right after some person grabbed his ass in the bar and he was leaving).

I was really bummed that I missed Michael so someone gave me his email address and I emailed him. Basically I told him that I was sad I missed him and that he missed my Muhney bag.

He emailed me back: several people had told me i had just missed a girl walking around with a muhney bag! i'm so bummed. so bummed. sorry we missed eachother, but don't fret, this will NOT be our last opportunity!

xoxoxo

michael

To which I replied that the bag was kick ass and that I would be at the Hilton until Monday. He emailed me AGAIN (because Muhney seriously rocks)

oh, we will definitely meet again. for sure. i won't forget the first girl ever to make a "muhney bag"!!!

So that made the whole missing him at the bar not SOOOO bad.

EDIT: 12/12/06 - Michael called me Monday evening to see if I was at the hotel still so he could swing by and see me. Of course I wasn't but it was way aweomse of him to call me.

So we were whisked into the cab and I puked into a bag in the cab. As I am throwing up, the cab driver is asking if me and Rinny wanted to go to a bar or a liquor store. That guy right there is a class act. Rinny kept telling him no and evenutually we arrived back at the hotel and squish_67 is down there to meet us. I went upstairs and went to bed where Rinny went and played on the computer.

I woke up the next morning still drunk I think. We ended up going to the bowling alley place again and were suprised with Tim Miner doing a fan vid of his own shows (LMFAO) and then showing us a clip from his new show Drive and then doing commentary on Airel. Can I just say that Tim is HI-larious. Seriously. So freaking funny. And cute for an older guy.

After Tim's whole thing there was a Q&A with James Palmer (the artist) and with Shawna...um...I don't know her last name but she is the costume designer. And then after the Q&As we had church with Rev. Johnny Wallet. For those who don't know, that is Jonathan Woodwards alter ego. If you ever get a chance to attend a church session with him, I highly recommend it. Words cannot describe the hilarity that ensued. Seriously. I took a tinsy bit of video, but I don't know how to upload that crap.

During "church" Jonathan mentioned something about him leaving the bar and when he came back it was closed. And that he was bummed because he wanted to see who the drunkest person at the end of the night was. I raised my hand up and he laughed and said something about not asking for a show of hands. Then he offered to have me stand up and I turned bright red and then he told everyone there my name was Leticia to which I turned even redder and started laughing.

After Church I went over to have our "prom picture" autographed and he gave me a hug and told me to get home safe. Then Tricia got her autograph and hug and he told her to make sure I got home safe. It could have had something to do with the drunk conversation I had with him at the bar the night before, but I'm not sure. Anyway, I was still hung over so Tricia checked to see if I won anything in the raffle thing and I did. It was one of those money pack things that has alliance money. I gave some to Squish, Fran, Jayneswoman, Tricia and Nikki. We went back to the hotel and I ate pickles, pudding and potato chips...the lunch of champions, let me tell you.

squish_67, bookaddict43, jayneswoman & cheshire_monkey all went out to lunch, but the smell of the restuarnt made me sick and I had to leave early. Rinny and Steph had left already and I was pretty wiped. One of the California Browncoat coordinators asked me to give her my number and I did. She said she needed to contact me later that night. I wasn't sure what for but I got in contact with her and a couple of the other Browncoats and they said they wanted to thank me for all my help. They let me choose between a few things that were autographed by Joss Whedon and Brett Mathews. I choose a Serenity lighter and then James picked up the graphic novel and handed that to me as well. We shared hugs and I thanked them for putting on the Bash and then headed upstairs to my room. Everyone watched fanvids for awhile before I crashed and me and cheshire_monkey slept together.

The next day we all parted ways and Tricia took me home (because she is so lovely). It was later that night that Michael called and made my whole day, but I already told you guys about that. All in all it was a fun weekend.
